Most of the works are intended to avoid ruin and, in many cases, are the first repairs that these ten monuments have seen in many decades. In total, the investment exceeds 3.3 million euros, most of the amount paid by the Provincial Council and the Ministry of Public Works (through the 1.5% cultural contribution), but also with contributions from the municipalities involved. All the works in these ten BICs had a deadline of November 1 to be completed, but this deadline is now suspended.
The works to recover the panera of the monastery of Sandoval, which was about to collapse, amounting to 365,000 euros, are very advanced. The Provincial Council is the main benefactor of these ten BIC, especially in the case of the walls of Almanza, where it contributes 180,000 of the 200,000 euros of the total cost of the work. Something similar happens with the castle of Balboa, to which it has destined 176,851 of the 196,501 euros of the rehabilitation; or in the smithy of Tejedo de Ancares, with 88,165 euros of a total budget of 98,507 euros; as well as the wall of the Palace of Renedo de Valdetuéjar, where the aid of the provincial institution is 176,544 euros for an intervention of 196,160 euros.

This volume attempts to answer these questions from different approaches and perspectives-some more focused on security problems, others on the role of civil society or subregional and regional organizations, and some centered on the structural factors that generate the emergence of armed or violent conflicts in Latin America and the Caribbean, on the basis of an exhaustive analysis of subregional experiences and the factors and actors that may affect their development.
In sum, the nine chapters lay the groundwork for advancing the debate on the conceptual premises that should guide conflict prevention in our region, from the perspective of civil society networks and organizations (on the understanding that this concept and its operational derivations have been on the regional agenda since debates, conceptualizations and external experiences, particularly within the framework of the UN), based on the regional and sub-regional dynamics that articulate conflict prevention, peace building and civil society actions, as well as the factors and structural elements that condition them in the region.

In 1924 during the Second Honduran Civil War or “Revolución Reivindicatoria” the revolutionary commanders: Doctor and General Tiburcio Carias Andino, General Vicente Tosta Carrasco and General Gregorio Ferrera, fought against the declared dictator General Rafael López Gutiérrez. In one of the battles the troops under the command of General Carias, suffered a defeat at the hands of government forces in the vicinity of “Los Llanos de Toncontín” or future Toncontín airport. Afterwards Tegucigalpa was the first capital of Latin America to be bombed by hand, from government and rebel aircraft, one of the famous launchers was the North American pilot Frank Brown. The war came to an end due to the intervention of the arrival of two hundred U.S. Marines who arrived via Choluteca and quickly militarized the capital city, then gave way to pacifist talks in which General Vicente Tosta Carrasco was named as president.
